recognition has worked well for Sri Lankan companies in the retail and finance
sectors, since selling-related roles are quite high. Top performers are
celebrated every month by companies with awards, while others bring in
peer-to-peer recognition platforms that enable members to recognize
achievements of others within the same team. Such initiatives build morale,
reduce the pressures associated with high-stakes targets, and foster a
collaborative culture.
A
key question has resurfaced in Sri Lankan organizations on how adaptable
recognition programs should be to suit a culture's preference. Should companies
use public awards or private acknowledgments in their effort to reap the best
results? A second aspect is that of achieving the right balance in recognition
so as not to create a hyper-competitive environment which might increase stress
among the employees.
Conclusion
Recognizing
culture in Sri Lankan sales would decrease the stress and further develop their
performance. Hence, any organization should take employee recognition into
consideration as part of developing a favorable working environment that
